#misannteeb?

They say good friends are the people you can do nothing and anything with and still have the best time. It was not so long ago, we were sitting on the gray couch at Ann's and we managed to do absolutely nothing, yet it still felt like doing something.

In November I discovered the world of hashtags. #misannteeb was founded, and my Instagram account got hooked with the help from Canon. Today Ann turns 25 and I see no other way to announce this to share the world of Ann through my constant focus and clicking.

The other day we were catching the rare sun of Estonia, Kriek in our hands, when three French guys started talking to us. They asked how long have we known each other and I answered without hesitation that it was ten years ago when the love at first sight stroke us. Of course, it was me who was partly joking, but the guy himself was sure we're a couple...

Ten years ago when having a DSLR camera and pursuing a career in photography was becoming the next big thing, I couldn't be any less. My naive vision met Ann with who we started waking up at 4 am to catch the extraordinary morning light. Dressups turned slowly into not so shabby photographic results (at least when you were a 15-year-old). Only because Ann knew how to act natural and I knew how to take that into a photo. Hobby was born, and so was our friendship.

We never were the rebel teenagers. We had our own paths to follow, and back in the days, we had those utopian dreams that any other teenager would have.

We're definitely not the most emotional gals you can run into and that's what I love about us. We know when to shut up and we are aware when enough is enough. Meanwhile, we acknowledge the balance and see the truth.

Ann has this vibe to her. She's liked by all the people around her. I have no idea how she does that, but she does. I have this secret hunch that it comes hand in hand with a tradition to always think what others might feel or think.

In January, when my cousin was having a speech at my sister's birthday party, she made a valid point - the reason why she and Sandra are getting along so well for almost 30 years now is that they share a different taste in men.

It got me thinking - me and Ann, we share the same secret. Never have we ever shared a taste in clothes we wear or men. But what it comes to food... "We're foodies," said Ann on Wednesday when a foreigner came to ask for an opinion about a restaurant in Tallinn, "You have come to the right people!"

We can tell the difference. Cappuccino milk has to be silky, vegetables in a wok have to be crunchy and the best Indian food in Estonia can be found in Bollywood. We know that a good movie experience can only be accompanied by candy and we are absolutely against drinking a good cocktail when it's not drowned in ice.

The utopian idea of founding a business together made us realise how perfectly different yet similar we are. Ann is someone who contemplates, measures and goes through all the jeopardy possible, even the ones not worth thinking about. I, on the other hand, am the one who is willing to take the risks without taking a time to consider the outcome. I say if there's no way possible, there's always a way. Both critically fatal when starting a company, yet when combined... let's just say it would be a hustle with an extraordinary result?

That's what I love about our friendship. We take the time to balance each other out. Funny, right?

Last week when we were walking to a yet another spontaneous and unplanned Midsummer party, I caught myself saying for the thousandth time: "Next year we're going to plan it big: house, lake, sauna, friends, food..." and then Ann stopped me: "You say that every single year!".

It has been like this for ten years now and it still makes me laugh. It doesn't matter if it's the New Years' Eve or St John's Day - it's just us scrolling through social media feed and envying everybody fabulous having a fabulous time at a fabulous party with all the fabulous friends. And it's not like we don't have friends to party with... it's just... actually... I have no idea what's up with that.

Happy birthday, you wonderful human. May your adventures, ideas and future take you far and beyond!
